Definition

Abrasion Resistant (ABR)


The process of scraping or wearing away.


Acid Resistant (AR)


A chemical substance that neutralizes alkalis, dissolves some metals, and turns litmus red; typically, a corrosive or sour-tasting liquid of this kind.


Aluminized Protection (AP)


The chemical element of atomic number 13, a light silvery-gray metal.


Arc Flash (ARC)



     An arc flash (also called a flashover), is the light and heat produced as part of an arc fault, a type of electrical explosion or discharge that results from a low-impedance connection through air to ground or another voltage phase in an electrical system.     


Corrosion Resistant (CR)


Destroy or damage (metal, stone, or other materials) slowly by chemical action.


Flame/Fire Retardant (FR)


A fabric or substance that prevents or inhibits something, especially the outbreak of fire.


High Visibility (HV)


Denoting outer clothing made of a fluorescent or reflective material intended to ensure that the garment's wearer can be easily seen by other people.


Molten Splash (MS)


Molten metal splash is the most common cause of melt deck injuries and is caused by the addition of wet materials to the molten bath.


Spark Resistant (SR)


A small fiery particle thrown off from a fire, alight in ashes, or produced by striking together two hard surfaces such as stone or metal.


Water Repellent (WR)


Drive or force (an attack or attacker) back or away.
